Create your own Workshop
I am available to bring my workshops to you if you can put a small group together and live within 25 miles of the LE8 postcode. Some of my workshops are suitable for children, such as for holiday activities or after school clubs and some are suitable for older adults in care homes. They also make great away days for corporate companies who are looking to increase mindfulness and mental health for their employees. They are also great Hen night activities or something different to do for that special birthday celebration. Please contact me if you are interested in any of these options.

If you would like to be kept updated on my workshops, please email me at studio@karenwyeth.co.uk or join my mailing list to be kept informed of when bookings open

Beginners Workshops

Join me to learn how to create a beautiful picture of your own using merino wool!

You will be taught how to lay down the merino wool fibres, mix colours and build up the image before wet felting it. You will leave with your own felt picture which you can further enhance at home with stitching if you wish. We take a short break half way through to have some home made cake and coffee.
Felt picture making workshops are run throughout the year at The Barn in Houlton, Rugby (CV23 0AB), between Hilmorton & Crick. This is a beautiful community centre with lots of space and light, right next to the lovely Tuning Fork café, perfect for lunch before or after! There is plenty of free parking and the venue is wheelchair friendly.

Workshops are suitable for beginners or those who already have some experience of felting.

Cost: £60 - includes all merino wool, plus tea/coffee and homemade cake.

Small groups ensure plenty of individual attention (max 6 people per class)

On the day, please bring with you an old medium sized towel and a plastic bag to take your damp towel home in.

Advanced Workshops

The Advanced Workshop allows you to build on the Beginners one by introducing new fibres into pictures to add additional texture, colour and sparkle. Working with a picture of your own choice, you will build up the image with merino wool as before, but this time will be able to add further fibers such as silks, bamboo tops, Angelina fibres and even gold leaf! You are welcome to bring any fibres you have at home and I can advise you on the best way of adding them into your picture. I will also give you a demonstration of how to use free machine embroidery, hand embroidery and needle felting on your picture to enhance it even further.

Cost: £60 - includes all merino wool, plus tea/coffee and homemade cake.

Small groups ensure plenty of individual attention (max 6 people per class)

Felted Soap Making Workshop

An eco friendly alternative to plastic bottles of soap! Your pretty bar of soap will brighten up your bathroom, will last longer, not get soggy, be easier to handle and the wool felt scrubby you are left with when the soap is finished is 100% biodegradable!
In this workshop you will learn how to apply pure merino wool fibres to soap, before being taken through the wet felting process. By the end you will have 2 pretty felted soaps to take away with you. We will have a short break in the middle for tea/coffee and home made cake. This workshop is suitable for beginners or those who already have some experience of felting. It is also suitable for accompanied children age 8+.

Cost: £35 - includes all merino wool, plus tea/coffee and homemade cake.

Small groups ensure plenty of individual attention (max 8 people per class)

Here's what some previous participants have said about my Felted Soap Making Workshop:

'A very enjoyable afternoon, getting covered in lovely smelling soap, while learning how to produce very pretty and useful soaps. Delicious cake! And a very patient and helpful Karen! Highly recommended.' Vicki, Nov 2021

'Really enjoyed this craft workshop - not difficult at all but very rewarding to come out with 2 lovely felted soaps and the knowledge of how to make more. Merino wool is so soft and smooth it was very soothing to gently roll the soap around in your hands. And the cake was amazing!!' Karen, Nov 2021

Here's what some previous workshop participants have said:

'This workshop was bought for me as a birthday present and postponed because of lockdowns so we finally enjoyed it yesterday! The venue in Rugby is easy to find and in a beautiful barn with lots of natural light and good facilities. Karen is enthusiastic and great at encouraging and supporting creativity and the trying of new techniques. The materials provided enabled me to produce a felted landscape that I know I will enjoy adding to with machine and hand embroidery to complete a work that I will want to keep. ( this is not always the case at the end of a workshop!). After so long without workshops, it was lovely to experience a well organised workshop offering good value with the opportunity to learn new skills in a small friendly group whose ages ranged from 10 to nearly 70. I can thoroughly recommend the experience.' Sue, Sept 2021

'Karen kindly allowed my 10-year-old daughter to join this small course and it was wonderful. She is a brilliant teacher, has just the right balance between teaching technique and encouraging artistic decision making, and she really inspired my daughter, who left the course very proud of her beautiful piece of art - her first wet felting and something genuinely to be very proud of. The venue is perfect - easy to find and of a very high quality, and a lovely cafe and nature walk around too. Re Covid it just felt perfect - safe, sensible with just a small number of participants and a lovely airy room. Couldn't have asked for more!' Hannah, Sept 2021

'If you want a relaxing, rewarding, fulfilling few hours, you can't do better that join Karen on one of her felting courses. I have learnt so much even though I knew nothing about felting beforehand. Karen guides you along without intrusion, towards your final piece of work, which you can hold up and say with pride, "I made that". Oh, and she makes seriously good cakes to have in the break!' Christine, May 2019

'I have just participated in my third workshop - I just love felting, particularly with Karen. It's such a calm, friendly experience every time. Karen explains the process so well and knows just how to help if you need it. The Barn at Houlton is a lovely venue too - did I mention Karen also makes cake for attendees too?I would highly recommend these workshops... I know I'm gushing but I would also say don't stop at one workshop, with felting being such a dynamic process, there's always more to get out of attending.' Niki, April 2019
